Supportive friends make the world of difference. If you have these, great! Keep them involved. If not, aim to gradually build up to meeting some new people. Friendships play a major role in self-image and identity, so positive friendships have positive consequences. It can sometimes be tough for friends to understand what you are going through. You may find that they unintentionally say something hurtful or insensitive. If they are making an effort to keep in contact, and support you, then it is important you make an effort to help them understand your experience. If they disappear off the face of the earth when you become unwell, then you don't need them anyway.
